When anxiety and stress hit, it is often tough and exhausting, both for those affected and for their relatives, who want to help but often feel powerless.

The Anxiety & Stress Association in Denmark was founded in 2001 by individuals who had themselves undergone treatment for anxiety and stress.

The association works to promote greater openness about anxiety disorders, to increase focus on treatment, and to support the development of such treatments.

Additionally, the association offers memberships with telephone support and advice for affected adults and young people, as well as their relatives. And - they also provide information on anxiety and stress, self-help groups, lectures, social events, and more.

A Logo that Shows Care and Support

The association contacted me in 2024, requesting the design of a new logo design. The existing logo had been designed by themselves years ago, hastily, in order to keep focus on their work. However, the time had come for a better visual identity.

The process began with discussions about possible approaches. Should the logo express frustration and illness, or should it express help and support?

Once an overall plan was in place, work on the new logo began. This involved a multitude of sketches and possibilities, various color combinations, setups, etc.

Process and Result

The process of creating the new logo took time, as the result had to be perfect and capture the essence of the association's work. At the same time, both the leadership and the board had to discuss and approve the final logo design.

The new logo features two broken hearts—one representing those affected by illness and one representing their relatives. The hearts are broken to symbolize the pain they endure. At the same time, the graphic symbol resembles a butterfly, symbolizing hope and life.

The primary colors of the brand are friendly shades of red, representing warmth and assistance. Additionally, a white alternative version was created for use in situations where the red would not be clear enough against certain backgrounds.
